The Catholic Community of Jeffersonville is excited to welcome Tim Seman as the new Director of Faith Formation. Tim begins on September 3, 2019.

For most of his life, Tim grew up and lived in West Bloomfield, MI, which is a suburb outside of Detroit. After having an encounter with our Lord, Jesus Christ, in his senior year of High School, he began to get involved in many programs in his home parish, which included teaching middle and high school youth groups, serving in retreats, forming catechists, and more. As his relationship with Christ grew, Tim realized He was calling me into Church Ministry, full time. This then lead him to receive his Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Theology from Sacred Heart Major Seminary as a lay student and his Master of Arts in Theology and Christian Ministry from Franciscan University of Steubenville.

It was there, at Franciscan University, that he met his bride, Antonia. Tim and Antonia are very excited to meet the people of Jeffersonville and begin their married life together as a part of the Catholic Community of Jeffersonville!

Dear Friends,

A little over a month has passed since the start of our journey together at the Catholic Community of Jeffersonville, and I want to thank you for your generosity and kindness from the beginning.

As you know, we had large change in leadership of our parishes in July, not only in pastoral leadership, but in faith formation as well.  Our new Director of Faith Formation, Tim Seman, will be joining us September 3.  His arrival marks an exciting time for us as a faith community.

Although programs will start a little later than normal, this transition has provided an opportunity to make three important changes regarding faith formation: day and time of Children’s Faith Formation (CFF), date of First Reconciliation, and age of Confirmation:

Day and Time of CFF—After reviewing the attendance record of CFF and speaking with members of the community, it has come to my attention that Sunday mornings in between Masses is not the best time for CFF families. I also understand that NO time is perfect.  I want to try something different.  On the new registration form, our CFF families are asked to vote between two meeting times:  SUNDAY EVENINGS at 6 p.m., or TUESDAY EVENINGS at 6 p.m.  I ask that each family when registering their child/children vote for ONE of these times.

Registration is ongoing, but the voting deadline is September 13. Once registrations are in, THE POPULAR MEETING TIME CHOICE WILL BE THE STANDARD MEETING TIME FOR THIS FORMATION YEAR.  We will announce the selected meeting time Sunday, September 15.  We will then be able to draw out a proper CFF calendar and begin formation in mid-October.

Date of First Reconciliation—Since formation will not begin until October, First Reconciliation will shift from Advent season to JANUARY.  Although this date seems a bit later than usual, it falls within the traditional time of the celebration of the Sacrament.  The date of this Sacrament will be finalized by the end of September.

Age of Confirmation—This academic year, CONFIRMATION FORMATION WILL RETURN TO EIGHTH GRADE (and above), with the reception of the Sacrament taking place in the Fall of the ninth grade (and above).  This decision was made to bring our community into further compliance with the rest of the New Albany Deanery.  All students who prepared for Confirmation this past year
(2018-2019) will still be confirmed this October.

Registration for CFF can be found here.  If you have already registered under the old registration form, I thank you for your diligence, and kindly ask to please register again.  This way we can get your vote on which day is best for your family.

We are still in need of Catechists! If you are interested, please email me at:

ministry here, and we can get the ball rolling on a great year of formation!

Thank you for your understanding, support, generosity, and most importantly, prayers.  I thank the Lord for the opportunity to serve you.

In Christ,

Fr. Matt
